I'm thinking of taking over a forum which was previously banned from AdSense for 'fraudulent click activity'

Is it possible to open an account using a banned URL? Is it the account holder, or the URL which is banned?

I emailed Google, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't want to apply for an account in case my name ends up being associated with fraud

Hello,

You cannot open more than one account per person/entity. Anyway, I would e-mail them and see. You never know. If you have a good history with them, maybe they'll give you a go. Good luck. Smile

well, why not sell advertising youself? If you had the traffic and activity to mak esome bucks from adsense I'm sure you can do better by selling links an d banners yourself. All you need is phpadsnew and a good community people would like to advertise at.

It is all controlled by the tags they give you. Just edit the tags and make them text only.

If this is difficult for you, just go back to your adsense account and create new tags.

You put the code they give into the template you wish them to be seen on in the position you want them to be seen.

Generally speaking you can add them to your overall-header.tpl where they will be seen on every page at the top.

You can put the code into your overall_footer.tpl where they will be seen at the bottom of every page

You can put them on your index page where they will only be seen on the index.

The choice is yours and is only really governed by your members like or dislike of the positioning and you must think of your members first because if they dont like the position chances are they will leave the forum and that is something you dont want to have happen.
