What do you do about users who register and then for their first and only post, advertise their site? This has happened to me two or three times now.

It's not a real problem. Delete their posts. They're usually lazy and never return. Actually spam is just a minor problem compared to the troubles that you can really have with genuine trolls.

If it's just one, usually I'll remove and warn. If it's 3+, I'll usually just ban.

Well, this happens a gr8 deal on my forum but it's not competition sites or anything untoward - it's all in keeping (usually) with audio production - so mainly just the members' site where everyone else can go check out their music etc etc.

Anything against forum policy would recieve either post edit from mod, post removal and if REALLY bad - member deletion (IP/email ban)

Strict buggers we are.

Since I give free hosting, i encourage those hosted by me to post their links on my site. Those not hosted by me can apply to become affiliates, the only links i remove are those that dont relate to a subject or are to mature sites (only had a couple of those, and one was in a support request o_O)
