Advertising a Literature Forum

How would you suggest one go about promoting/advertising a new book forum? Let's say it's a general literature forum.

I'd recommend trying to define a more narrow niche for it, and get links to it from topically related websites.

would suggest to submit your links also to other forums.
It quite effective as long as there are a lot of active members and your links would not against the forum rules.

If its about a publisher, series itself, its always a good idea to contact that person.

If its about a series, why not contact the author? If the site is well built I'm sure the author would consider either linking to you or if you get really lucky a place in a book itself. But then again, it would have to be a high traffic, well built site.

Thats an idea that would require hard work, but hey, 'fansites' can catch peoples attention. Smile

Thought I'd update this topic - my site gained #1 status on Google for typing in the name of the book series and "forum" or "forums", and is on the first page for just the name of the series.

Being ranked so high in Google has helped bring in the members.
