Do you always put a banner image on your forum header? Or sometimes do you just put nice text.

I try to make a banner to add life, however I'm not very good at making them. How about you?

Like a logo? Yeah, always. Logos tend to be in graphic format.

I usually do, but for the latest design of phpBB Smith I just went with big text. I'm not very good at advanced graphic creation and I couldn't think of anything that really fit in with the theme of the site that well.

For one of my older site designs, I tried to use a bird-like thing with lots of pointy wings instead of a banner. Then when that new Battlestar Galactica series came on TV, they used something very similar, but inverted vertically, in their logo. I didn't like the pointy bird-thing so much after that.

I always have a banner, and it must always have been made by a decent designer.

The very reason I find them irritating.

I gues that means I dont use banners anymore though 5 years ago when I started out, I had lots of them because I could never find the right mix and in the end I found that text is much better than a banner.

I usualy make a logo and put it in the header , beacuse the logo presents you whole website or forum , if the logo is nice the forum is nice and professional . I think that when a visitor enters your website , first time he looks at your logo .
