I dont plan to include any IRC chat at the moment in my forums although SMF has mods for it. However, I'm thinking on including the ULTIMATE CHATBOX... _________________ Toons & Comics Community

I fell in love with flashChat some months ago, but unfortunately it is not allowed on my server. I was very sad to let it go.
Now I use a modification of Smartor's chatbox, called chatspot. At the moment it is still in alpha stage, but I find it reliable enough to run on my site without any complaints.
You can download it and keep up with developments here:

| I use a perl IRC standalone client for all my chats on my forums. I like the flexability that a popup chat window gives the user and I like the ability for users to be able to log into the chat with their client of choice if they wish. |

I prefer IRC to any other alternative, I find that putting a chatroom in a forum is kinda ironic... _________________ DTG Live! an online post-apocalyptic MMORPG in an old-school 8-bit style, build your own house, fight monsters and players! |

haha, i feel the same way on that. I used to install chatrooms on my forums until i realized they got used maybe 2 times a year. Even then it was nothing important so i decided to quit with the hassle. My forums were better off without it >_<

Hi, Guys.
I just join the community.
Here a Chat Mod you may want to look into: ChatSpot , it's a modified Smartor Chatbox.
Features:
Multiple rooms and private messages are supported. Integrated with phpBB and uses phpBB's users table, sessions, smilies, and more. Tested with multiple browsers.
PS: Just my two cents. |

I use mIRC. This way, there is a chat room, but it won't interfere with the site. The thing I like about chatrooms is the instant response, so their good for immediate questions, or my latest Truestar Forums craze: trivia.
You have to be careful with chatrooms. A community I am a part of has two seperate rooms, one of them is clean discussion, the other is dirty. The atmosphere of that room changed the moderators attitude. And it changed it in a negative way. That site that once was golden, has become corrupt in my eyes. And I am wondering if I should move on or not.
Be careful, don't let your staff become "wiseguys". _________________ Truestar
