When designing your sites, their page layout and looks, what browser(s) or other software do you use to test how it turns out? This would include stuff like HTML validation and simply how the pages render.

I always used Netscape browsers, until Firefox came along. It uses the same rendering engine and works faster on my PC, so I use that now. I try to give everything a quick once over in Internet Explorer, too. That usually results in some tweaking to get the page looking correct in both. I don't bother with the validation and other stuff of that nature much.

Lately I downloaded Opera 8 to for testing a new site design, and was very suprised to find that it can render pages much differently. I've had to tweak the design of one of my forums a little and found several problems at another I was already planning a new layout for. Looking at some other sites in Opera gave some interesting results for them, too. Laughing

I test anything I design in 4 browsers, IE, Firefox, Opera and Avant. I make sure they at least look the way they should in all of them. Other than that I don't worry about validation or anything like that.

Firefox and IE. I tried with AOL's explorer, but I believe it runs off IE.

I develop in FF, but I use Avant/IE to test only.

I have learned that AOL users seem to have problems accessing sites even if it works with IE, so I think there might be some problems with that. But I sure as heck am not going to install AOL just to use it for testing purposes.
