Do all mods get to see them or only admins? And what's your reasoning there?

Yes. Sometimes they notice patterns I miss. They are instructed to keep this information to staff only.

Yes. They may also ban, but I have some precautions against outrageous banning.

Yeah. It is of course with the understanding that it should be kept private but like Patrick I often miss duplicate IPs, patterns for members that I may not wish to be in the community any longer.

No. I keep them to myself as admin. I should probably look into allowing mods to view them.

Yes. This is the default behaviour of phpBB and I guess I'm too lazy to change it. Razz

I've yet to tamper with that, but if I ever change my mind, could somebody direct me to the appropriate mod? Smile

same with hari. If phpBB does that by default, than it's the same in my board since that's not something I have worked on.

Ip only viewable by admins. One of my favorite hacks of all time. In my mind, ips are only to be used for banning purposes, and on my forums, they have no business doing that. This makes my users feel more secure, mods can still do their jobs and admins can still do theirs ^_^

I've had cases where people sign up with different usernames / emails but post from the same IP address. By allowing moderators to see the IP address, you're allowing them to moderate. Smile Otherwise there would be no way to even suspect that the posts are from the same person.
