Same as Keith,

I wont sign up to any community that uses a default theme, or a theme that someone else has created. Make the effort, make it unique.

Well, at least those who've tried to change the default colours should be appreciated...

Actually phpBB templates are quite easy to customize. Requires just HTML knowledge. However, some parts of the template may be difficult to edit because of the template tagging knowledge required.

No, never.

I feel that default themes are just a way of the webmaster saying 'I don't care'; I, too, do not sign up to communities that use generic themes.

Default themes don't give the site an identity.

I think customized themes are the best. Atleast if not at the beginning of the forum, the admin (or theme manager) should start to work on it.

I won't make a statement, that I don't sign up to forums with generic themes though. It all depends on how important it is to me. Themes though are secondary to me, I really appreciate customized themes and feel they're always, almost essential.

Because phpBB Hacks are mainly designed for subSilver, I keep it as a skin to choose from. This enables me to test hacks using the subSilver skin before I add the hack to my default skin. By the way, great skin for Community Admins, Patrick. I'm feeling the site and could definitely learn a few things from the community. Peaces.

I find the SubSilver theme is generally used by free servers offering phpbb forums and when you see it that tends to tell me that someone is not that professional with what they are offering.

I modify all my boards to suit the theme of the sites. Some templates I have designed myself, others I have used another template and then redesigned it to suit my own requirements.

On my phpBB communities I upload many skins, and let the user decide which skin they like best.

On my vB communities, I modify the default theme so that all the information (i.e. User Name, location, post count, etc..) is on the left hand side, like in phpbb, and of course, I modify the logo.

As skin/template designer, for all my sites I have custom templates to match the website its for, I would never use subSilver only because it wouldn't feel like my website otherwise!
