A problem discussed by many webmasters .. some people say adsense won't have great results in forums, others have some serious checks to prove the contrary .. what do you think?

I think it does/can. You should make it blend it on your site. AdSense is pretty much the best option for communities out of the existing ad netwoks, in my opinion.

Google is the best way to make money on the forums... period. My site revenue jumped when I started ads on the forums... especially the "in-thread" option.

As Patrick said, though, make sure they blend into the forums. Also, try different formats. AdLinks and such.

I've had pretty good success with adsense on forums. It can be spotty sometimes, but overall I've been very pleased with it. Some of my highest days have been from adsense revenue on my forums.

What sort of return can you see with AdSense advertising on forums? I just applied and got approved this week. I think I have enough activity and traffic to garner a little extra cash.

Where do you find is the best spot to place AdSense on your forms? Header? Footer? In Topic?

You have to put it where people see it... header and in topic, I would say.

Next to the post-reply button (top and bottom of threads) works reasonably for me. Although I would imagine in-thread is good for profits, I dislike the intrusiveness of it. It depends if money is your only concern I suppose.

Money is certainly not my only concern. I look to integrate ads that are unobtrusive. I don't view an ad after the first post in on each page of each thread as obtrusive. At the end of the day, I simply don't serve that many ads.
