Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I'm launching a new community and consider a few alternatives. I've found this one: http://Grou.ps - which satisfies all my needs, wiki, blogs, forum everything in one place + integrated with Flickr! which is a must in my case (studying in the Art academy and want to connect students) - but on the other hand, I'm not sure about it because I've never heard of it before. Did you guys try it before? how about phpBB - are there free plugins available that add wiki, blog aggregation and Flick features to it?
Your feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks, |

Hello,
certainly they have a support forum. I'd go there and check if they are really supportive and embed phpbb upgrade smoothly.
If you modifiy a board yourself you are the one who has to do all the work and in the beginning you'll never know if mods are compatible with each other.

phpBB has several different hacks that can turn it into several things. As of now 2.0.x can be turned into a blog, community, wiki and more. phpBB uses PHP in such a manner that its easy to reflect an image of a website that you want. Its flexible and I highly recommend it.
However, this Grou.ps might be something to look at. I would download a version if I were you and test the ropes before making a final decision. _________________ Truestar
