1. Link in sig
2. Link exchange with fellow sites
3. CONTENT .. that's the key for a site.
4. search engines and directories submission
5. WORD OF MOUTH .. another important one.
.. these are the free ones
Or just pay some money for Advertising _________________ Webmaster articles, tutorials and topics |

I've always loved a saying I read online years ago: Content is King.
Build It and They Will Come is a good one, too.
A good, easy to navigate design is also a very important promotional tool. If your site is hard to use or just plain ugly, that word of mouth dojo mentioned is going to be "do not go to that place!" _________________ Phantasy Star: The Fringes of Algo | phpBB Smith |

I have a question. Ok, so boosting the amount of traffic to a site might be a good thing. However, just because the amount of traffic gets boosted, does not guarantee your member base will jump. So ... are there any tips for drawing members and drawing members to your site that stay longer than a quick minute to spam the forum with an ad for their own site?
I hate people who do that. In fact, I don't allow advertising of any sort on any of my sites. Even the one site I run that is more of a links database doesn't allow people to post links to their sites. If they want a link, they have to PM me and also provide a link back to that site. This has not been a problem as we have many affiliates and links and no one has complained about not being able to spam my forums with their web links. _________________ [ Sharnyl ][ New Houston ] |
