Do you have any forums in which users can either not post or even enter without having a minimum of __ posts?

I have made one of my Suggestion Boxes have a minimum of 15 I think so that members who wish to comment on a fix they'd like will actually be around to see those changes they suggest. I guess I'd rather have more committed members allowed into that specific area. I also have an 8 post minimum on a Spam Here forum where members can go as random and crazy as they'd like.

What about yourselves?

Hmm good idea... I haven't had such a board so far but as my forum grows I probably will make Suggestions be 'postable' only after 10 posts or so like you did...

Actually this is a good idea, their must be a MOD right? I'd like to have my article forums be "postable" after 25 posts...or must I add something myself?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. Smile

No, I don't. But, it can be cool if you have a good use of it. Smile

Truestar, which one did you find? I've been looking for a hack that lets everyone in a selected range (Registered, for instance) enter, but only those with a certain post count post. If anyone has found something of the likes of that, please shoot me a link.

Yeah, I got that one too. Now I need to find time to install it. Laughing

I'm hoping I can adjust the message though.

The MOD says:

Quote:
$lang['Forum_enter_limit_error'] = 'You have to post %d message to display this forum/topic.';

Hopefully, I can adjust it without messing it up, and make it like this:

Quote:
$lang['Forum_enter_limit_error'] = 'In order to post in this forum, you must have a post count of %d, once you have aquired this amount, you may view and post in this forum.';

When I tried to adjust in registration agreement stuff, all I did was add a line and it messed up. Should this tiny adjustment work? Idea

I don't have any forums like that, but I think that's a good idea. Having a minimum post count would be useful in advertising forums, so people don't just post one ad as their only post.

I have one forum like that (using another self-made hack), but I'm thinking about dropping the requirement for a while. I've been using it on an advertising forum, but I need to get some more members coming in...

Ooohhhh. The advertisment forums. This MOD I would find perfect for this. The last thing I want is people using my board for the sole purpose of advertising their own. However, this is inevitable, this hack could certainly help.

I think using this hack on an advertising forum would make the most out of it. So, I think I'll install this...now. Very Happy
