hari, so sorry for the problems ... and the decision to close the forums (read it in the blog). in the end it's indeed your call and maybe now it's the best way to deal with this, since you are also involved in other serious matters and cannot deal with the online issues that much ..
I do hope you'll reopen the community. It would be a nice thing for those who were loyal members.
I have closed a forum too and reopened. I did it in the same day. I also had isssues with some members and since there were too many problems I decided to close it. Still, since I am too stubborn and I do have a lot of time on my hands, I reopened in the same day. I kept it open in the previous place until I installed the forums and modded the theme a bit. Started some topics and closed the old one. With no warning prior to this. Some members (the best ones) were announced of the move and the others faced a closed forum and a link to the new one.
Started from the scratch .. after 3 months I have more than 3000 messages. in 3 years I had ten thousand on the previous forum, so it's 1 year in just 3 months. My people had a new set of rules and I made sure they read them ..
I hope you'll reopen and have peace in the community you've built. It's indeed frustrating to have so much effort put into a project and then have someone mess it without thinking what they destroy. They don't destroy a forum, they destroy months of hard work ...
Anyway .. all the best with your projects. I hope you'll keep us posted. And when you're back in the saddle, let us know (some of us could help you a bit with the posting till you get it off ground)
