Now what I did was not to disable hidden users, but allowed the mods to view them. It's a very simple one line code hack and might be a good option if you choose not to remove the hidden feature.

Exactly what i did ^_^

I like giving my staff more abilities than the user without having to take away the abilities of the user. Give them their privacy from those who have no business knowing they are there while at the same time letting those who do have business knowing where they are the proper information to do their jobs.

I feel like a n00b...So mods can't see hidden users as a standard? Can someone give me the link for that mod? (or just the code if it's a one-liner).

Go to profile_add_body.tpl and remove the section on hidden users between <tr> and </tr>

That's what allows moderators to see hidden users?

There is a mod to remove hidden users. I was going to post this yesterday when my computer just switched itself off (must look at the troublesome PSU Sad)

Remove hidden users
Allow moderators to see invisible

It doesn't allow moderators to see hidden users, it stop users from using the hidden function as you are removing that switch from the template.

Admin can change the hidden status through User Management in the ACP though so you can have hidden user's if you have reasons to do so.

Also if a user is online as hidden you can as Admin, change the status in the ACP to have the user show as online.

Ex0dus I already posted the link in my earlier post. There is such a mod in phpbb.com MOD database. (see hidden users).

Yep, thanks guys - sorry Ex0dus, I had already editted my files w/ harish's afore mentioned link. Thanks for your time, though!

In case anyone was wondering, even though 99% of you probably weren't, this hack also works with Categories Hack.

Oh well, so long as it solved the problem its all good ^_^
