I usually get my mods from the most serious posters in the site, who have the patience and knowledge to do this extra work ... I PM them usually and propose _________________ Webmaster articles, tutorials and topics |

Recently I was promoted on my hosts site. (Pretty exciting ) And I got to see the Moderator forum, and noticed there was a topic about me asking the other support members if I should be promoted. Besides the fact that I was flattered by some of the comments, I was wondering if you contacted your current staff about a new promotion? It seems like a good idea, and I even did it when my site first started. Or would you rather keep it to yourself? _________________ Truestar

Promotions are up to the administrators as far as im concerned. I might ask 1 or 2 mods, but generall I make a point to ask my other administrator, if he says yes, its done, if he says no its not. Same with the reverse.
I choose members who I know very well and am positive they are capable of doing the job. There is one im uncertain about. But generally, im glad I promoted them all. Less work for me, due to I don't have to baby-sit them.
Wouldn't it be a very bad thing. If your members/mods found this site :| lol (well for some ppl) _________________ An optimist may see a light where there is none, but why must the pessimist always run to blow it out?

At some forums where i have been promoted before, i have seen topics like that and it was nice to see what others thought of me. As for at my own site, ill get a general consensus from some of my better admins and see what they think. They are also welcome to nominate people too but so far we havent really looked for staff in awhile since we have plenty ^_>

That's it. If I'm in need of moderators I open up a forum specifically regarding moderator applications, and I post a topic with all the details necessary to apply. The applicant would send me whatever info he wants via PM, but it all must be in ONE PM. There are some prerequisites, of course, such as having been an active member of the forum for some times. _________________ [ The Infinity Program Forum ]

I've done the same and I've got some responses. _________________ Toons & Comics Community

I don't think asking for moderators is quite the way to go... you get a lot of people who might not be quite suitable for the job. _________________ Literary Forums

I'd let them know no matter what they saw on this site, my final decision is my final decision. _________________ Truestar

I normally pm the members whom i feel are good to be promoted, based on their activity, visits, posts and manners.
I sometime also take suggestion from fellow mods. _________________ World Of Words! |

What I do is both: send a PM and make a public announcement, but not at the same time! The public announcement also lets people give their congratulatiosn and 'welcome to the team' type messages. _________________ Dog Cow, administrator of Mac GUI City |
