Everyone should read this if you're a forum admin and watch for this stuff:
http://www.johnchow.com/going-organic-with-in-forum-advertising/
They act like a professional company and don't consider what they're doing "Spam". But it is spam plain and simple.
Just this here explains why they're spammers:
| Quote: |
| In Forum Advertising says that they don’t just go to the forums and spam your product. Instead, they “contribute to the communities and become valued members.” In order to prevent detection, the hired writers put up four “helpful posts” in the community for every one post advertising a website. This is absolutely critical, because you want your advertising to hold some weight with the forum community. Otherwise, they’ll just turn a blind eye or, worse yet, the In Forum Advertising writers will get themselves banned. |
I don't know about you guys, but I get a bit annoyed at things like this that people are saying aren't spam. _________________ Camaro Forums and Firebird Forums |

Hey Rocket,
Thanks for sharing that. But, yeah, I agree with you completely. I've noticed posts on my sites that appeared to be part of scheme like this. Some call it "social media outreach", some call it "marketing"... I think it's just bad business and it's disrespectful.
If "in order to prevent detection" is a part of the pitch... that's a pretty good indication of whether or not you should be doing it. What they described is spamming forums and to refer to it as "Advertising 2.0" is kind of funny. That's more like "Advertising 0.1.2a Beta 2 Release Candate 6."
If you are a respectable business, you cannot knowingly take part in something like this for the simple fact that, if it should ever come to light, it would be embarassing and a serious blow to any credibility you have. Funny to consider that the company you are paying to do this could actually extort you because they are one of the people who could out you for this behavior.
Just all around bad, for everyone, except for maybe the company beind paid to do it.

Wow, some people really have to drop to some levels don't they?
Thanks for opening my eyes to this, I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on things now. _________________ Visit phpBBhacks.com for your phpBB templates, graphics, and modifications
