Hi

The forum I run in the UK has some very established same theme forums existing, is it at all possible to compete under these conditions. The area in question is financial and money saving ideas and tips, and there is...

forums.moneysavingexpert.com and also fool.co.uk - both of which are massive communities.

What tips could be passed my way in order to compete??

DEFINITELY!!!

It is obviously hard to compete with bigger forums, because they are better known and they will have many more members than you do. The key to competing with the bigger forums is to offer something that they don't offer, something that would be hard for a bigger forum to offer. One of the main things is a more personal touch. Set up an introduction forum and welcome every single member personally, also if it is possible send a personal PM to every member to welcome them. Don't use an automatic PM, they just don't have the same welcome feeling.

The only way to out-do a major forum, as I see it, is to:

1) Skyrocket

2) Out last them

OR both!
