Some time ago I put together a HTML page showing the development of Galahs Corner.

I wish i had started it a lot earlier as some of the original work was changed and lost in maze of changes and updates that I have made since it's original inception.

I was lucky enough to be able to find one of my original templates on the wayback machine website so I did a screen print of it and added it to the bottom of the current page.

The current page only shows the development that I followed in my quest to improve things look wise to suit the theme of the forum, since I began rebuilding in June 2004.

So here is the link to the page to give you some idea of how to keep a record of your forums/websites.

That's a great idea. While you can check the web archive for your previous iterations, it would be nice to have all of them in one place. Especially for a community like mine that is 3 years old with many design changes over the years.

It is a good idea. I can't even remember what some of my web sites have looked like in the past. I wish I had kept better records of the designs, so I would know what worked and what didn't.

I didn't keep good records in my early days, but the last few years, at least, I have very good/perfect record of my designs, etc. Smile It's nice to look back once every long while.

You may be lucky enough to get screenshots of your old designs by putting your URL into the search function on this site.

It is very interesting.

http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

Do yourself a favour and take screenshots of your designs if they are there so you can save them.

As an example here is a link to what phpBBHacks looked like back on April 28, 2001

Another interesting link to phpBBHacks is the forum which was running on phpBB v1.4.4 in February 2002 with just 563 members and 4607 posts.

Today there are 23262 members and 247297 posts.

Thanks. A couple things to note about that link that ~HG~ posted:

- Last update was May 26, 2001. That was the day our Support Forums launched, as was noted.

- All pages on that site were hard coded. There was no backend, PHP, MySQL, etc.

I don't have such a page, but I have my sites zipped. From time to time I like to look at them as they once were Smile
