Hi.
First of all my english is not the best and this is my first Post.
I have a phpbb based community with almost 2 months of life.
I have 505 registered users ( and still growing ). I think is a quite good number for a community with only 2 months. But only 30 registered users post in my forums.
The subject of my community is only fun and make new friends... without any special subject ( 10 forums within 4 categories ).
I have arcade mod installed with almost 30 online games, photo gallery and live irc chat ( pjirc mod ).
Is there any advice to increase the posting average ?... i'm not happy with my 8% posting people average.
Also i have the average of 80 unique visitors per day.
Thanx in Advance for any advice. |

I may not be the best person to advise you, but that seems a very decent start. Keep working at it and give it time. It'll grow.
My forum has just 244 members from one and a half years and just about 4000+ posts, and I still haven't given up yet! _________________ Literary Forums

Sounds like the rate I'm at.

If you check many forums around the world you will find the posting percentage of membership is around 3 to 5% and anything % figure over that is a real bonus.
I dont know why people join forums and not post but i do know a lot of the non posters visit everyday and read just about everything that is posted.
I am a member of a lot of forums due to the fact that I am involved with setting up my own boards and as a result have joined many, especially developers and mod author boards just to be able to get information and or help. I do not post on these boards on a regular basis but I do try to visit regularly to see if anything new is/has happened. _________________ ~HG~

It is disappointing to get these types of users.
But some advice would be is to start the topics yourself. If you really want your community to keep going put the time to create 10 topics a day, maybe more. Don't rely on your users to start discussion. They are most likely to reply than post something new. _________________ Truestar

Truestar : i think your advice is quite interesting. Maby i rely too mucho on users to start topics. i will try to start more topics and see what happens.

No problem. This works because I started a community. No one posted for the 2 months it was running, and I was busy with school. As soon as I had a chance, I posted about 12 to 15 topics and we had some discussion going. They still don't start many topics, but remember, launching a community takes time. It could be a year before you really get going. You never know. _________________ Truestar
