I have splitting threads the most. I always get the feeling I'm doing it wrong or I might accidentally delete a topic by mistake. Luckily I haven't had to do it too often.

So what's your most hated moderation task?

I don't really hate any of them. Smile We don't permenantly delete any posts (not even duplicates) and we don't edit posts, either.

I don't normally edit posts either unless it's spam. Angel

I delete posts quite frequently compared to what I thought I'd do before I started my boards. I think my most hated task is splitting, because I've only done it once or twice. It's not complicated, but it's not the easiest thing of them all.

I have to agree ... splitting threads .. ishy!

the first thing I thought of when I read the title though was actions my mods take that I hate the most .... lol ... at the risk of derailing the topic I would have to say "scolding" the user within the users post after modifying it. something such as "Joe! You know better than that" .... grrrr I hate that! I have one mod who used to do it all the time .. I think I finally got her to take it to PM or just modify in silence now ... sheesh.

but yes, splitting is definently my least liked ... you would think they could make it easier to do ... especially Vb, great forum software but man some of their features are just not what I would call user friendly or intuitive .. I swear they need me on their next "concept team" for the next upgrade .. I could sure tell them a thing or six about how to revise some of their more complicated features .. lol

I clicked the wrong option. >_<

I wanted to vote for splitting threads, personally, I find no postive contribution in splitting topics or posts. Smile

Splitting, definitely. I especially dislike it on very long threads that span more than a couple of pages. I'll never understand with the phpBB coders didn't include pagination in the split page. After about 10 pages, it becomes impossible to split a thread...

Personally, for me it's closing threads, why?

I've managed some huge forums before, and closing threads is actually 'easy' to do, it's just the aftermath that's a pain, complaining posters, you start having topics about why ANOTHER topic got closed, and so on Laughing
