I'll start with what I think can improve your site...Warning: I might sound too critical.

1. Please change the logo, and go for something that explains what "Shayeri" means rather than "Shareri.Net" as your logo.

2. I still don't know what your site is about until I read deeper into it. Your portal page REALLY could use a slogan/catch phrase letting users know what Shareri.net is all about.

3. The portal page looks a bit too blocky for my eyes, and the "Forum" link could be put at the top also, along with the "Register" and other links.

4. The shoutbox is really obstrusive being at the top. Using the scroll-wheel becomes ineffective because it ends up scrolling the shoutbox than scrolling down to see your forums, I suggest you move the shoutbox to the bottom.

5. The theme looks okay but way too many horizontal bold lines makes me dizzy, maybe you can de-emphasize the bold horizontal lines a bit to make the TEXT stand out more.

6. One good thing about it is you don't have too many forums to being with.

7. Oh and I'm baffled by the huge "What's New" box at the bottom of your forums..

Overall good start !! You can surely make it a sucess.. Btw, I'm from India as well.

The "~:" characters were annoying and gave me the idea that I was visiting one of those chick forums. It looks unprofessional, but if you're running that forum merely as a hobby, whatever, I suppose. But I guess it's a part of what plays into the type of people you want to attract to your forum. Remember that the guest will usually spend less than double digits in seconds browsing your forum before he decides to continue on, or leave.

Anyways. . . the links and text are easy to read. I saw two points of registration so it'd be easy enough for guests to find. Contact info easy to find. Purpose of the forum explained in a welcome message visible at the top. Latest news posted at the top. Lots of good things going on.

Post new interesting discussion topics on a regular basis and encourage current members to get and stay involved. Make sure you have a considerable base before you invest the great amount of your effort and time on promotion.

As per Tekno, kudos for not starting out with too many forums.

I get an error message at the bottom of your forum:
Quote:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home2/sha350/public_html/forum/includes/template.php(127) : eval()'d code on line 43

I like the template, but it looks too busy and the ~: needs to be removed, otherwise it becomes very hard to read.

i kept this ~: and :~ for the means of decoration.. and to differentiate the forum name, but as you said it I will surely change it.

The error message was becoz i was editing some codes of forums. Now its fine.

I want to know what attracts more visitors to stay on forums?

Perks. Just post some interesting new topics once in a while and encourage them to get and stay involved. Respond to topics and help conversations to remain active.

Get a lot of content. Keep posting news and events on the topic of your forum. Keep circulating fresh topics initially to get people to discuss more.

You need a few "social" topics where people will come out and chat more, like "What song you are listening to right now?" and so on. It might not be your idea of content, but social topics help people keep the forum alive in the short run and then once you get more members, you can consider limiting them to one area of the forum.

Hi was interested in your post, as i thought i had to many topic's/zones
on my site
I have tried to make it a casual fun place, but feel there is something wrong, the members say it's great, but I'm not getting new members, loads of guests, and some coming back, but not joining

The site is a hobby of mine, but i want it to be a great site
