A while back (about 4 or 5 months ago) i began to create a forum in PHBB which i have customised in various ways such as adding a chatroom, and arcade. and i have had a few people join but they have joined and not been on since so i am hoping poeple will be able to give me some pointers to make it better looking and more appealing - be as critical as you like, i wan't to improve it after all.... any advice will be welcome Wink

On the critical front...

1. The dark blue links on the black background are virtually invisible. I can barely read the "Login/Register" and other links at the top. That needs a change.

2. I've not understood the exact theme of your forums. Is it Game related?

3. The font size is a bit too small and could be made a bit bigger, i.e. the forum description fonts.

4. The dark moderator colour (green) could also be changed to be made more visible.

5. The highlight colour of the forums isn't visible and I had no idea clicking on any of the table cells will take me to the forums itself, maybe you could change this to change the background colour more prominent.

Positive Side:

1. The colour of the links is bright and pretty much perfect, good choice.

2. The number of forums is not overwhelming and fewer forums will force users to post in fewer boards making it look more active.

3. The logo is good, but I'm not sure if that's the name of your site, if not the logo needs change.

4. Overall all the minus points are very easy to fix I should think. So that itself is a positive point.

Good site, and a decent start too.

I would just like to add, its just a minor thing but I find it important. I was looking for the total number of registered users. I can't see it. In my experience, this is important for new members, due to the fact that alot of people like to join large communities for the various discussions it can offer. Even if you had 10000 members, it wouldn't show. Now I am well aware you are able to see how many members are online or not. If it is there and I just can't see it. Point it out Smile

- note i had the millenium falcon template on yesterday as i was trying to carry over my chatroom to the template. so i have reverted back to the subsilver i use normally as it has the main modifications added.

in answer to some of your question i will try to answer them here (althogh i am unsure of how to do some of them e.g if i need a mod or hack):

1. The dark blue links on the black background are virtually invisible. I can barely read the "Login/Register" and other links at the top. That needs a change.

i have tried to change this using the subsilver with a background- tho it doesn't look to effective i have to admit

2. I've not understood the exact theme of your forums. Is it Game related?

yes i aim to have it a community for discussion that focuses on games with a few other topics not specifically related e.g comedy section

4. The dark moderator colour (green) could also be changed to be made more visible. - i have tried to change this a number of times, i want the admin colour red and the mod dark blue but i can't seem to do it ....

i have the site information at the bottom of the page - i feel this may be a reason people don't stay once they have signed on.. there are virtually no members, and the ones that are registered never use the site anyway.

any questions left out, are because i am working on the suggestions made.

thank you for your help so far guys.. Wink
