Please read and discuss: http://www.managingcommunities.com/2008/02/04/staff-members-arent-here-to-be-anybodys-buddy/

Have you had these sorts of issues with staff members? Or is it not really an issue for you, because you have a different perspective?

Thanks,

Patrick

Taking responsibility as an administrator is something that professional websites should consider. People can run websites as they want, it's their freedom. But speaking from a professional perspective, an admin should be able to take the heat. Add any heat and kitchen puns as you would like. Razz (This however doesn't mean that a moderator can mess up at will, something must be done to fix his/her errors).

Getting down to the point of the entry at MC, staff members have to record the violations, and deal with the member accordingly. Whether it be best friend, or your local police chief, a violation is a violation. Hate messages may be sent back, and a member may attempt at some sort of "revolution", but thats a sacrifice some people have to make. In the end, an administrator is going to be a lot more grateful that the situation was simply dealt with.

Its the same as bringing personal work into your job. Keep the business in and the personal out until the paperwork is done.
