|
|
Recently a long-standing member of my community started editing out all his old posts because he got upset over a moderation decision of mine and said he was leaving the community.
I took down the forum now and I want to convert phpBB to some other solution because phpBB allows users to edit posts regardless of the time they posted it.
I want a suggestion for a bulletin board that has all these settings to prevent users editing their own posts after a certain period of time. Not as a mod but as a built in feature.
Any suggestions are welcome. _________________ Literary Forums

I think you can disable editting in the ACP under advanced permissions. Is that what you mean? _________________ [Bobsnox Forums] [Shannara Forums] [The Smash Syndicate] [LegendofZeldaForums.com]

I don't know if phpBB allows "Time based editing' meaning disable editing of own posts after so much time. It might be available as a mod though.
Among the freely available forums -- I suggest SMF for power, miniBB for simplicity. _________________ Toons & Comics Community

Oh, I see what you were talking about. You don't want users to be able to edit after a certain amount of time, but within that time, they can still edit.
Nevermind my post then. _________________ [Bobsnox Forums] [Shannara Forums] [The Smash Syndicate] [LegendofZeldaForums.com]

Theres a mod for phpbb that solves this problem, but unfortunately the site it was located on is down right now. Hopefully it comes back up soon and i can link you.
For now though, the best you can do is disable editing by users.
