Usually an event or something you did and made people start seeing the site. I don't know if it's coincidence, but since I got the link in the hacks site, seems my traffic is starting to so well.

Well, I made a forum for a heavily searched keyword in the Spanish language..."gothic poems" - "poemas goticos", no site had that...that has given me a very nice traffic boost, but...now most people are "gothic" at the community... I also placed a subdomain including the keywords "poemas goticos" pointing to that forum...don't know if it has to do something with that...

My board was mentioned (& linked) with a few others in an article on the BBC news website some time ago. That gave a noticable increase for that month.

One of my boards was mentioned on Howard Stern's web site. The traffic brought down the server. My hosting service actually took my dedicated server off-line. I had to ask the Stern people to remove the link.

So a sudden surge in traffic doesn't always help you.
