I've been working on launching a new site recently and have come to the point where I'm starting to work on the various guidelines and other last stage items.

My guidelines are pretty much based on the templates that Patrick has available from the Managing Online Forums book site:
http://www.managingonlineforums.com/downloadable-templates/

There are some basic changes to wording as well as some additions and deletions.

I'm hoping to get others to see what I may have missed that would come up. Did I skip or remove any major elements that should be included?

Thanks for the help.

By participating in the DigitalD20.com website you agree to the following guidelines, which apply to all visible content (including, but not limited to, posts, profiles, avatars, signatures and private messages.)

Due to the dynamic nature of the site it is not possible for us to review every message for accuracy or validity. If you feel that someone has violated our User Guidelines or you have spotted content that may otherwise require attention please send a report and a brief description of what you believe is wrong. At no time should a user respond to a situation personally, further aggravating the situation. Responding to a violation in an inflammatory manner is a violation in itself and will result in appropriate action.

Interpretation of the User Guidelines is at the discretion of the site staff, if you feel something has been removed in error please send a private message to a moderator or administrator for further action. Any content that is found to be in violation of our User Guidelines will be removed.

  1. Cross-Posting is not allowed and will result in the removal of any duplicate posts. Cross-posting is posting the same information in two or more locations. When posting a new topic please try to post in the most appropriate forum within the community. If you feel you have posted your message in the wrong forum please report the post to be moved to another forum. No further user action is necessary.

  2. Personal Information is not to be posted. This includes information such as addresses and phone numbers.

  3. Content should be posted in English at all times as this is an English language community. This allows all postings to be understood and monitored properly. (Note: English does not need to be your native tongue so long as content posted is generally understandable.)

  4. Political and Religious discussions are not allowed on this site. Also, strong religious or political views should be kept out of all visible content (signatures, profiles, etc.)

  5. Multiple Accounts are not allowed. If you would like to change your username please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

  6. Advertisements and Spam are not allowed. Posts made specifically for the promotion of a website, product or service, or posts made that unnecessarily send people to a website that you are affiliated with are considered advertising. If you are interested in advertising with us, please contact us directly by private message or e-mail.

  7. Topic Hijacking is not allowed. If you would like to take a thread in a different direction than was originally posted please consider instead making a new thread for that topic, rather than trying to steer an existing thread in that direction.

  8. Excessive vulgar language and inappropriate material is not allowed and will be removed (at the discretion of the staff.)

  9. Virtual Trading posts, or posts discussing free servers, sale of in-game currency, items or accounts, warez, cracks, game or beta keys, etc. will be removed.

  10. NDA and EULA agreements are to be adhered to at all times on this site. Any discussion of items still under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or other information which may be against the EULA as set forth by the games' developer/publisher is prohibited.

  11. Copyrighted material is not to be posted on the site without permission from the copyright holder to reproduce or distribute. For most text articles a small portion of the article may be quoted so long as a link to the source (if available online) or the source information (if offline) is provided.

  12. Hotlinking to images, videos, audio or other files is not allowed. Hotlinking is the direct linking to the downloadable/streamable file on a server you do not have permission to link to. Instead of linking directly to these sources please link to the page in which these items can be found.

  13. Report, don't Respond to violations of our user guidelines. If you feel another member has violated our guidelines with one of their posts please report the post or contact us directly. Never respond to the post yourself as this will be considered a violation as well.

  14. Respect is expected to be shown to all members of the community. Flaming or derogatory remarks are not allowed and will be removed. You may disagree with others freely, but be prepared to offer that differing opinion respectfully. Posts made in order to taunt, insult or generally put down another member are prohibited.

  15. Users leaving the community will not have their accounts or posts removed. If a user leaves the community (of their own free will or otherwise) they may ask to have their account closed. When an account is closed the username is changed to something nondescript (ex. User4325) and all profile information is cleared. Account closure is irreversible. All content posted on the community is granted to us with perpetual electronic publishing rights and becomes a part of the community even if you no longer are. We do not delete accounts, posts or other content from the community at any time.

  16. The Community Team has the final say on anything. If you have a problem you may bring it up to any member of the community team privately, not publicly on the website. Creating threads or making posts questioning an administrative decision is not permitted. If you feel we have made a mistake please contact us privately and we will review the situation. If you want a copy of a removed post so that it can be adjusted and re-posted please let us know and we will try to accommodate this request.

Freedom of speech rights do not extend to privately owned websites, such as this one. These guidelines detail the types of behavior and activities that are allowed here.

If a user violates our guidelines and shows a disregard for them, our staff and our community, they run the risk of losing their account. We reserve the right to deactivate any account and to edit or remove any content without warning. These guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice.

Do you have a question about our User Guidelines or anything else? Do you have a suggestion? Do you want to offer some feedback? Or are you experiencing some trouble with the site? Well, no matter what it is, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be glad to help in any way that we can.

Thank you for visiting Digital D20.
