By add-ons, I mean as in big features, such as the ones listed in the poll.

If you have more than one, just pick one for the poll and tell us about the rest

Mine has all of them listed in the poll.

In reference to phpBB, not too much. I try to avoid them. But, I do have Photo Album Add-on on one and File Attachment Hack on another.

I have the simple Journal mod from the phpBBHacks database. I've edited it to allow admin/mods more than one journal(blog) and to allow Admin/Mods to well moderate in the journals. It's a very simple mod and for what we needed it for it was better than using the Blogs mod.

To quote lanzer on this, "Too many of the wrong mod can bring your forum to a halt."

You have to be careful which ones you install. Embarassed

Yeah. I mean, I do have plenty of hacks installed, but most of them are not "big features", most of them are small hacks or hacks that affect administrative function, etc. Hacks like Last Visit Hack, Censor Block, Inactive Users, Visual Confirmation on New Posters, etc. etc.

With good hosting (eh Patrick Wink ) I usually don't have a problem with the add ons I use. On my first host ever the servers were somewhat slow, but I find things work better where I am now.

I absolutely cannot stand the Quick Reply or any form of it. I respect those who use it but I find it pointless. It doesn't serve a purpose for me, its thoughtful and good code but its one hack I never use.

I don't give my users blogs, mainly because there's plenty of websites that offer free blogging. My type of communities don't need them.

I use the File Attachment Mod, mainly because it can be very useful, and a great feature if you have the disk space. I feel a lot safer with my 400 MB of space over my previous 50 MB, so I've added Attachments.

I've added the photo album also, it's a good place to post in game screenshots and can give you bragging rights to kills in games. I don't really use the Album Mod for just any old picture though. I'd rather our users use something like a picture host.

I don't use the phpBB calendar, I don't feel its powerful enough, at least I can never get it to work. So I've installed WebCalendar, just a simple PHP calendar. I like the Categories Hierarchy Calendar, however I don't want to install the entire MOD as it severely limits adding new MOD's.

Other than that I use many smaller hacks for administrative purposes. Smile

Some people say that Quick Reply lowers the quality of posted content since it panders to the lazy-minded people who are apt to post such material.

I kinda have them all. On my phpBBs I have 30-40 hacks installed, even my VB is with 20+ modifications installed so that I can have all I need. Cash mods, blog, directory, albums etc.

On both my YaBB and phpBB boards, I put in the Multi-Forums/Mutli-Boards Mod. Other than that, it would depend on the site, but this one Mod makes organizing/managing the site and coralling of members into specific areas easier.

Yeah, I finally for Multi-forums to work on phpBB with Categories Hierarchy hack. Yes, I know phpBB 3.0 has multi-boards built in, but 1) I wont be upgrading to 3.0 yet, 2) I wanted to learn the phpBB 2.0's innards and what better way to learn than to do the hack by hand and 3) there are some mods that will not work with phpBB 3.0 (like instant messaging on PHP121).
