Set up the forums, then work on the design. Community things like rule posts as well as mods come on a bit later.

I began creating the forums and descriptions, settings, and groups, to get the hang of the software. However, I now am struggling to find out how to MOD the appearances of everything.

I'm fluent in HTML/CSS but I cannot figure out where to begin, so I'm reading Tutorials at phpbbHacks.com Very Happy

I designed it, created the categories and basic forums, had a few hacks installed. then put it online and sent out invites. I already knew who would be the first few to join, so I asked them for feedback on what they would like to see on the site... i.e. features, etc.

I know that I like to get in on a site at the beginning and be a part of its growth from the groundfloor up, so to speak, and that's how I wanted to build mine. It's been a good decision Wink

1. Set up general admin parameters (global admin settings)

2. Make the forums

3. Set up forum permissions

4. Come up with a reserve of topics to post to get things jumpstarted

5. Post a bunch of stuff that i didnt put in reserve

6. Start an event (usually styles or design based since im bad with those) to get some people flowing in

Since i make my own premod, i use it whenever i make a new community. Saves loads of time on adding mods and it has exactly what i want, since well I made it >_<

1 - install the hack that removes the re-authentication for ACP Smile

2 - Install EasyMod so I can get the lengthy mods (Cards, Online/Offline/Hidden, Activity Mod, Cash Mod, etc.) installed with it before it becomes non-functional from the board being modded. EasyMod only works well on vanilla boards, in my experience. I've done about 8 or 9 installs and that's always how it plays out. Also, ModCP with the merge hack gets installed right away.

3 - Set up categories

4 - Set up forums

5 - Do the appearance/cosmetic/trivial mods as I go along, after the critical mods are done, and as the members find it and start posting.
