I MOD the theme, install some mods and immediatelly start new topics. Seems like I am quite talented in this matter Laughing

I have no wishes to welcome my visitors with a fresh forum installed not branded and empty categories, since I would stand to chance.

What do you do after installing the script?

I set out to customize the look, I suppose. Then I configure the forum settings to what I need them to be. Create the forums, post the guidelines... create some posts... launch... with some things in between for sure. Smile

I create my forums and categories first. I'm wondering if I made a mistake making this method? Do your users like coming to a completely ready forum? Or don't they mind? I should change my methods if they arem't as effective. Cool

You should have it completely ready before you launch. Smile

The site is built, customized etc. offline, on a local server.

So I guess once the site is online, up and running, the first thing I do is test make sure everything is working as it should, then turn the monitor off, grab a beer, and relax after many hours/days/weeks of hard work.

Very Happy

Sounds similar to my method...except change the beer to a Mountain Dew.

Well, now my Community can be improved. It usually is ready, but I don't install MOD's until after.

Thanks for the opinion. Smile

I also setup offline. I have everything setup before I set it up online. The style, forums, categories, user guidelines, etc.

I am runing only one forum, i have installed others but i only maintain mine.
At the beggining i just installed it, add and mod a theme, create categories that i find that should be OK then start few topics, call my friends so they can put a word or start topics. After that is a different story, i modificate it alot according to feedbacks or just by see whats missing and whats the need for. Apply mods, create more categories or even delete any etc etc...

I configure it, make the forums/categories, and post all the rule posts along with other topics. I do the modding later on.
