My community has such potential to be good within a few years, I really don't protect it. I really should but I think it's just time. I don't have a lot of it, but I would also like to hear how you guys and gals do your security stuff.

The only thing I do, is upgrade to the newer version as soon as possible.

I have changed phpbb on my database to another name so that if anyone is ever looking for phpbb they wont find it.

My host backups automatically every 24 hours so I dont have to worry about that though I do keep a fully updated version in my back up folder on my hard drive as well as the normal version in forum folder.

On the .htaccess, do you have CPanel? If you do, the Password Protect Directories feature allows you to do it easily. Just set it on your admin folder.

I had a bunch of details posted here, but then I thought better of itemizing my security measures in a public forum.

Suffice it to say I have a multi-tiered approach at the server and forum levels. And I backup my database and all site files daily Wink

i keep my phpbb up-to-date. after all, none of the other precautions you might take really amount to much if you don't even do that.
