Is the Cash addon just something for fun or does it have a good purpose?
I think about 2 years ago or more I installed the cash hack but it was a beta release so I never got to use it really.
Who uses it today and why?
I might install it if there is good feedback

I find it very useful on the Play By Forum RPG's that I either run, or participate in.
It's a great way to track player cash, etc.. But, if you're not using it for something like that, I fail to see how it would be usefull in the least.. lol

I agree with Dj, that is the only time I have ever used it, and even now that I am starting up a new PbP RPG I do not plan on using it as I will be designing my own system to handle that sort of thing, but if I wasn't designing my own I would use it probably.
Can't really think of any other times it would be useful though.

well basically isee it as something to do, its actually mainly used on the smaller forums that have no real proffessionalism or purpose to them, its just more or less for a bit of fun. I don't think i've ever actually seen a large phpbb with a lot of members and activity have a cash system

I have seen a couple of big forums that use the cash hack, along with various others like the pet hack and the shop hack. I see it as something fun to do so if the members are really bored.
When I used to use IPB I had the shop/cash hack installed along with the games and my members loved it. |

Got a quick question for whoever might know...
Where is the script to add to your main page (not forum page) that displays the last 5 posts that have been made in your forum.
for example,
www.yourwebsite.com <--- last 5 posts displayed on this page
www.yourwebsite.com/forum <--- and here is your forum

Thats kinda what I was trying to get too, with a large,activev board which has a lot od relevance, I don't see a reason why the hack would need to be installed, if its thee to keep the members entertained then there must be something wrong with the forum

Well, what I mean is if there's only one member on, and they can't think of any topics to post or topics to post to, they can use the hack. I also see it as a "promotion" to get more people to join.
There's not necessarily anything wrong with the forum if this hack is installed. For example, when I used to play Neopets (yes I was one of those), there was only one forum that I was a member of that didn't have this hack installed, and that was mainly because there were so many members (5000+) that made a lot of posts, so we were able to keep busy. The others only had like 2000 or less, and most of those were on at certain times of the day. |
